Columbine stencil card

Columbine stencil card

Description

A single fold card with a stencilled columbine flower used as a decoupage picture. It is finished with a Happy Birthday sticker.

Materials used

  • A sheet of A4 card folded in half to create a greetings card 148mm x 210mm (6 ins x 8.25 ins)
  • Columbine stencil by American Traditional Classic Dimensions Sentements CS-17
  • White paper
  • Markal Paintsticks in your choice of colours
  • Sticker No. 13 Happy Birthday
  • Double-sided self-adhesive foam pads

Method

Stencil

The above illustration shows the three-part overlay blue laser stencils used for the flower. They produce a bridgeless design. Each part contains different elements which, when combined, create a complete image.

Make three identical stencil pictures following the instructions on the stencil packet. Allow them to dry thoroughly.

Stencil flower

Cut out the layers of petals as shown in the illustration above using a craft knife or scissors. The first picture is the full flower, the middle picture is the first layer of the decoupage, the right hand picture is the top layer. Mould the petals in the palm of your hand to put a slight curve on them.

Fold the sheet of dark blue card in half to create a greeting card. Mount the columbine base picture on your greeting card with adhesive.

Assemble the other two layers of the flower using pieces of double-sided self-adhesive foam pad to give the layers space between.

Add a Happy Birthday sticker.

Product availability

We regret that we are unable to advise the reader of a source of supply for the materials used in the projects on the Card Making Inspirations web site.

The layouts and techniques used in these projects are timeless. However, products such as stamps, stickers and patterned papers are quickly discontinued to be replaced by new items. When this happens we suggest that there is a lot of satisfaction in finding an alternative product that suits the design.
