Butterfly card

Butterfly card

Description

A single fold card has a square of dark green card then a square of white card mounted on the front. A flower design is stamped on the white card. Stamped butterflies are cut out and mounted on the flowers using self-adhesive foam pads to give a 3D effect.

Materials used

  • A sheet of white card folded in half to create a greetings card 145mm x 145mm (5.75 ins x 5.75 ins)
  • A sheet of dark green card 114mm wide x 122mm high (4.5 ins wide x 4.75 ins high)
  • A sheet of white card 106mm wide x 114mm high (4.25 ins wide x 4.5 ins high)
  • Stamp K1377 Butterfly Bouquet by PSX
  • Green embossing inkpad
  • Gold embossing inkpad
  • Gold embossing powder
  • Clear embossing powder
  • Heat tool
  • Glitter glue
  • Double-sided self-adhesive foam pads
  • Coloured pens of your choice
  • Blitzer airbrush
  • Adhesive

Method

Fold the sheet of white card in half to create a greetings card 145mm x 145mm (5.75 ins x 5.75 ins).

Spray a stippled effect on the front of the card using a Blitzer airbrush. (This is a simple airbrush using felt pens as the ink source) Mount the square of green card on the greeting card front with adhesive. Stamp the butterfly bouquet design on a square of white card using a green embossing inkpad. Sprinkle with clear embossing powder and emboss with a heat tool. Colour the design with felt pens. Mount the square of white card on the greeting card on top of the green card, fixing it with adhesive. Stamp the butterfly bouquet design on white card using a gold embossing inkpad. Sprinkle with gold embossing powder and emboss with a heat tool. Colour the design with felt pens. Cut out the butterflies and mount them on the flower design using self-adhesive foam pads to raise them from the surface. Add glitter glue to the butterflies wings.

Product availability

We regret that we are unable to advise the reader of a source of supply for the materials used in the projects on the Card Making Inspirations web site.

The layouts and techniques used in these projects are timeless. However, products such as stamps, stickers and patterned papers are quickly discontinued to be replaced by new items. When this happens we suggest that there is a lot of satisfaction in finding an alternative product that suits the design.
