Method

Friendly plastic is available in strips 40mm wide. Cut a 40mm square using suitable scissors. Heat the square. Ink the PSX Brushed Rose Heart stamp with a Encore Ultimate Metallic gold ink pad and press it into the plastic to create an indented image. Leave the plastic to cool. You will find more information about using Friendly plastic in our Techniques section at "An introduction to Friendly Plastic".

Stamp the PSX Swallowtail butterfly on to the black shrink plastic using a Brilliance pigment ink pad of pearlescent sky blue. Cut out the butterfly shape with scissors or a craft knife. Put the shrink plastic on a flat, heatproof surface and heat with an embossing heat gun to shrink the shape.

Cut a rectangle of pearlescent blue card 90mm x 60mm (3½ in x 2½ in). Mount this on your greetings card with adhesive using the illustration as a guide.

Cut a rectangle of linen gold foil card a bit smaller than the blue rectangle using deckle edge scissors. Mount this on top of the blue card with adhesive.

Cut a square of black shrink plastic 28mm sq (1 in). Mount this on your greetings card with adhesive using the illustration as a guide.

Mount the shrink plastic butterfly card across the top left corner of the black square with adhesive using the illustration as a guide.

Cut a square of linen gold foil card a little larger than your Friendly plastic heart square. Cut a square of pearlescent blue card a little larger than the linen gold foil card.

Cut three strips of Mizuhiki Cord, the longest about the length of your greeting card, the next one about 10mm shorter and the last one 10mm shorter than the second.

Mount the blue square on the greetings card with mini foam pads using the illustration as a guide.

The three Mizuhiki Cords are sandwiched between the blue card and the square of gold foil card. Start by putting mini foam pads on the blue card. Add the Mizuhiki Cords followed by the gold card.

Mount the Friendly plastic heart square on the square of gold card with adhesive.

Add the Chinese Love sticker.

We regret that we are unable to advise the reader of a source of supply for the materials used in the projects on the Card Making Inspirations web site.

The layouts and techniques used in these projects are timeless. However, products such as stamps, stickers and patterned papers are quickly discontinued to be replaced by new items. When this happens we suggest that there is a lot of satisfaction in finding an alternative product that suits the design.
