Mola Card

Mola Card

Description

A white single fold deckle edge greetings card has a pattern cut in it using a Mola Template. The white card is backed with pearlescent red paper cut with a further Mola shape. Attractively patterned Han-Ji paper shows through this design. A gold chain link sticker border surrounds the patterned rectangle and two small jewels complete the design.

Materials used

  • White single fold deckle edge greetings card 88 mm x 144 mm (3½ x 5½ in)
  • Pearlescent red craft paper
  • Han-Ji paper pack No. 7010
  • Sticker No. 81 borders link gold
  • Mola template No. 4
  • Two small jewels
  • Card adhesive or double-sided self-adhesive tape
  • Adhesive tape
  • White paper
  • Craft knife
  • Metal ruler
  • Cutting mat
  • Pencil

Method

There is a tutorial on using Mola templates at Mola Cutting. This card uses one of the four designs found on Mola template number 4.

The white greetings card is cut using the Mola template then backed with pearlescent red paper. This is cut by hand following the shape of the first cut. Patterned Han-Ji paper is used on the bottom layer.

The inside of the front leaf of the greetings card is hidden with a white paper insert. This is fixed to the inside front leaf with adhesive. The other leaf of the insert is left free.

Add a border of gold chain link sticker around the pattern rectangle on the front of the card.

Add a small jewel to the centre of each of the two flower patterns.

Product availability

We regret that we are unable to advise the reader of a source of supply for the materials used in the projects on the Card Making Inspirations web site.

The layouts and techniques used in these projects are timeless. However, products such as stamps, stickers and patterned papers are quickly discontinued to be replaced by new items. When this happens we suggest that there is a lot of satisfaction in finding an alternative product that suits the design.
