Fabric and Mulberry Paper Christmas Card

Description

A textured natural white deckle edge card has three mulberry paper patches in red and pink mounted on it. The patches have torn feather edges. Each patch has a design cut from fabric on it. The designs are pinecones, cherries and mistletoe.

Materials used

  • Textured natural white deckle edge card 104mm x 152mm (4¼ in x 6 in)
  • Mulberry paper in red and pink
  • Fabric with Christmas designs
  • Double-sided self-adhesive sheet
  • Paper adhesive
  • Scissors

Method

Create three mulberry paper patches by tearing them out. The mulberry paper will give a feather edge when torn.

Mount the three patches on the card with paper adhesive using the illustration as a guide.

FabricSelect the area of the fabric you want to use. Cut this out roughly and stick it to one side of a double-sided self-adhesive sheet. The sheet has a protective layer on both sides. Peel back one of the layers and offer the fabric up to it taking care not to introduce any creases in the fabric.

Cut around each design with scissors. The fabric will not fray at the edges as it is held together by the self-adhesive sheet.

Peel the backing paper off the fabric and mount the fabric on the mulberry paper.

Product availability

We regret that we are unable to advise the reader of a source of supply for the materials used in the projects on the Card Making Inspirations web site.

The layouts and techniques used in these projects are timeless. However, products such as stamps, stickers and patterned papers are quickly discontinued to be replaced by new items. When this happens we suggest that there is a lot of satisfaction in finding an alternative product that suits the design.
