Card Making Inspirations Home      How to make two beautiful Christmas cards with one Church window sticker

Church window positive image

Positive and negative stickers

Description

This craft project uses peel-off stickers and demonstrates how you can use both the sticker image and the part that is normally left behind and discarded. The above card has the part of the sticker you would normally use, the positive image. The card below is made from the part that is left, the negative image. We show you how to lift these pieces and then release them onto a card.

Materials used

  • White double fold greetings card 104mm x 152mm with aperture
  • Sticker No. 75 Church Window
  • Marker pens
  • Silver glitter glue
  • A piece of card

Method

The self-adhesive peel-off sticker is stuck onto a piece of card and coloured in with pastel colour marker pens. The picture is then mounted into a double fold aperture card and a line of silver glitter glue drawn around the aperture.

Bottom card with negativetive image

Materials used

  • Dark blue deckle edge greetings card 104mm x 152mm
  • Sticker No. 75 Church Window
  • Sticker No. 46 Happy Christmas
  • Low tack tape - e.g. Sellotape Invisible tape or Scotch Magic tape

Method

To use the negative image sticker (i.e. the pieces that are left after the first image has been removed), cover the image to be removed with overlapping strips of low tack tape. Lay a piece of tape at right angles top and bottom of the first layer to hold the strips together.

Rub the tape down with the handle of some scissors or a coin, then carefully peel the tape back removing the image with the tape. Lay the image still stuck to the tape onto a card. Smooth card is better than textured as the tape pulls the surface of textured card. Rub the image down gently and carefully remove the tape.

Add a suitable greeting.

Note: the same piece of tape can be used several times.

Product availability

We regret that we are unable to advise the reader of a source of supply for the materials used in the projects on the Card Making Inspirations web site.

The layouts and techniques used in these projects are timeless. However, products such as stamps, stickers and patterned papers are quickly discontinued to be replaced by new items. When this happens we suggest that there is a lot of satisfaction in finding an alternative product that suits the design.
