Happy Easter card

Happy Easter card

Description

A smooth white greetings card has an Easter cross embossed in a rectangle of silver foil. This is mounted on layers of cream and green card, then a rectangle of roughly torn light green Mulberry paper. A Happy Easter sticker on a green rectangle completes the design.

Materials used

  • Smooth white greetings card 104mm x 152mm (4¼ in x 6 in)
  • Silver Foil Emboss
  • Green Mulberry paper
  • Green card
  • Cream corrugated card
  • Yellow card
  • Happy Easter sticker
  • Embossing tool
  • Soft pad for embossing
  • Adhesive

Method

Cross detailCut a rectangle of silver foil 25mm x 35mm (1 in x 1½ in). Turn it face down and draw an Easter cross on the back with felt pen using the illustration as a guide. Place the foil face down on a soft mat and emboss the cross with a round ended embossing tool. A leaf design is added to the vertical edges freehand.

Mount the silver rectangle on a slightly larger rectangle of yellow card and fix with adhesive.

Mount this assembly on a slightly larger rectangle of cream corrugated card then a larger rectangle of yellow card, then a larger rectangle of green card.

Tear a rectangle of green Mulberry paper and fix it to the greetings card with adhesive. You will have more control over how the Mulberry paper tears if you draw the outline on it in water using a watercolour paint brush. You can then pull the paper apart leaving an attractive rough edge.

Cut a rectangle of green card for the Happy Easter message. Add the message sticker and mount this on the greetings card with adhesive.

Product availability

We regret that we are unable to advise the reader of a source of supply for the materials used in the projects on the Card Making Inspirations web site.

The layouts and techniques used in these projects are timeless. However, products such as stamps, stickers and patterned papers are quickly discontinued to be replaced by new items. When this happens we suggest that there is a lot of satisfaction in finding an alternative product that suits the design.
